Alison M. Messer, MD

Dr. Alison Messer

Dr. Alison Messer is board certified in dermatology and dermatopathology with the American Board of Dermatology. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Doctor of Medicine degree from McGovern Medical School, graduating as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed her dermatology and dermatopathology training under Dr. Ronald Rapini at the integrated McGovern Medical School and MD Anderson Cancer Center programs and was elected chief resident.

After training, Dr. Messer was appointed Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Pathology at UT Health Science Center San Antonio, where she was also Director of Dermatopathology. Dr. Messer educated and mentored medical students, residents, and other faculty members. She gave weekly didactic lectures, taught during dermatology clinics and inpatient hospital rounds, and published various research reports. She was also a regular participant in the Advanced Cutaneous Oncology Program and Tumor Board. Dr. Messer is highly regarded by her patients and was named a Rising Star Doctor by Scene in SA Magazine.

Dr. Messer’s expertise in cutaneous inflammatory conditions and cutaneous oncology is a valuable asset to Sagis Diagnostics. As a practicing clinician, she insert places great importance on the correlation between clinical history and pathological diagnosis, always keeping this in mind when making diagnoses and writing reports. Her commitment to patient care is further demonstrated by her open line of communication with clinicians, and ensures the most accurate diagnosis for the patient.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Dr. Messer enjoys experiencing food, fitness, and the outdoors with her children and husband, who is a practicing Radiation Oncologist.
