Pathology Billing Specialist, Houston, TX

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow-up on all billing accounts

  • Appeal insurance denials and identify insurance rejection codes

  • Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding

  • Demonstrate effective organizational and communication skills

  • Demonstrate judgment and decision-making capability to resolve conflicts

  • Must be result oriented and maintain quality results by following company standards

  • Must be reliable, responsible, and dependable

  • Analytical and multi-tasking skills are required

  • Must be able to identify inconsistencies and provide solutions

  • Ability to learn laboratory procedures and protocols

  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work overtime when needed

  • Ensure confidentiality of patient information by following HIPAA guidelines

  • Maintain a high level of professionalism with patients/customers and internal staff

  • Ability to be flexible with changing

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment

  • Knowledge of electronic claims, submission and errors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High-school or equivalent

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in pathology billing preferred.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required

  • Will require the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
