Dr. Michael Sedrak is board-certified in dermatopathology and anatomic and clinical pathology by both the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pathology.  He received his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, after which he completed an AP/CP Residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (TX).

Dr. Sedrak pursued his fellowship in surgical pathology at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston and then continued to dermatopathology the following year. Dr. Sedrak received several awards acknowledging his academic precedence in pathology residency programs; namely the Gbo Yuoh Teaching Award, Pathology Resident of the Year granted by the College of American Pathologists, and the Pathology Resident Gross Photograph of the Year.

For several years, he had been the Lead Member and Contributor to the CAP Residents Forum Resident Wiki Action Group, Surgical Pathology Teaching for Pathology Residents and liaison to the Young Pathologists Section of the Texas Society of Pathologists.

Dr. Sedrak has performed research in such topics as urinary bladder biopsies for pathologic staging of high-grade urothelial carcinoma, idiopathic calcinosis cutis of the penis, the use of immunohistochemistry to detect perineural invasion in non-melanoma skin cancers, temor, lesion and sarcoma topics surrounding the pleura, and has published in various pathology journals including The Encyclopedia of PathologyLung and Pleural Pathology, The American Society of Dermatopathology, Journal of Cutaneous Pathology, The American Journal of Dermatopathology, Advances in Genomics and Genetics, Journal of Surgical Research, and Dermatology Online Journal.
